yeah im sure i can find something, ill probably end up soldering it since thats something i have available, im just hoping it'll stand up to vibration. we shall see I guess.
soldering alum is a pain to do tho you need to have it really really clean . you also need special solder , it can not have any lead in it or forget it will not stick at all . a 91% Tin 9% Zinc is what is recommended i have used a 95 5 tin antimony (plumbing solder lead free ) with fair results . you can not use any common flux on it no acid core or acid paste .
what i do is heat the joint and rub on some solder then with a small pick keep scratching the joint with the solder melted on it . doing this breaks up the crap on the metal and lets the solder bind to the metal . not a great way to do it but it works . there is a special flux for doing alum its Superior No.1260 Superior No.1260 Aluminum Soldering Flux
i have never used the stuff myself but have talked to the company and they say it works grate and works on pot metal too . ive been thinking about getting some to play with one of theses days .
