father and son build recomendation

Can anyone recommend a vintage minibike for a father and son rebuild. Looking for something common so parts will be easy to find and not to pricey. Thanks for any help

Welcome to the fun.

How old is your son?

Check the photo section and see if there is something you like.
There are tons of bikes in Mi.
Check craigslist for some deals.
Need anything cheezy has everything in the state.

My boy is 5. He has a 50cc quad to ride but I think an old mini bike will be perfect to develope his mechanical abilities. I have alot of projects so I figure may as well add one more.

Ok..I was just curious due to the timing of it. And I would recommend a Doodlebug or something of that nature. I know they are not vintage....but a good starter bike and the parts are all over the place and rather cheap. You can also do so many mods to it...it is endless and can be used up until adulthood. Just a idea...

Thanks for the recomendation. ...there are so many options it becomes overwhelming with all the makes and models.......I think ill find some deals and have him help me decide.....its going to take some restraint on my part not modding to much.....I can picture stretching it with a slick

Welcome. And there is nothing saying you can't buy yourself one as well.

+1 on the Baja Doodlebug. Not vintage so nobody will get upset if you want to chop it up for a stretch etc and you can get just about every part from OldMiniBikes Warehouse for pretty cheap. There are also quite a few off the shelf upgrades for them from places like Hot Rod Minibike and a few others. I rebuilt a Doodlebug I found on Craigslist late last year and i'm pretty proud of how it came out plus it's a blast to ride! Good luck, have fun!!!!
