Floating comet driven?

I am mounting a 30 series driven on a keyed jack shaft. Does it have to be held in horizontal position with a pair of collars or can it float?

It needs to be lined up with the driver if it floats you will tear up and throw belts :doah:

good question i would think it should work ok floating because the back of the sheaves always stays in the same position but the collars are probably a good idea just incase it decides to do something odd

It needs to be locked into position (no "floating" side-to-side). Also make sure that the driver and driven are aligned dead on.
