Next time your out driving have a look around because Ford Rangers are still all over the place and I don't meen the new redesigned ones. Every time I go out wherever I go I see 3 or 4 of them. I mean the truck that was discontinued in 2011. My 2003 Ranger is now 22 years old and going strong, old enough to drink lol. Every year there are a few less but its still astonishing just how many are still around. There aren't to many vehicles this old still driving around in these numbers. Most of the vehicles around me are less than 10 years old. This just speaks volumes about the popularity and reliability of this truck.

You can not find them for sale around here unless they are beat to hell or are just at "On Dope" pricing.

There is no reasonable reason Detroit can't still make a truck like this. Truth is they do not want you to have that option because it would cost them sales of the over bloated, over equipped large trucks that they make crazy profit on.
Read an article a while back on the subject and it said by making the larger heavier truck they don't take a mileage average hit on the fuel efficiency of the entire fleet of cars sold.
It is not held to a better fuel standard at heavy weight even though the smaller truck would get great mileage compared to the whale.

Have a 1987 Mazda B2000 SE5 in the barn with antique tags and every time it is driven I get people asking if it is for sale because they miss the small no frills trucks
The Volkswagen little trucks are even harder to find for sale than Rangers, they are always sold to friends or relatives.

Maverick is not a real Truck, it is on a car chassis.
They are nice and all, but apples to oranges.

The current Ranger is not the small size that made it famous and desirable.
The new one may as well be a full size truck. with a small length bed.
Think the OP is talking about the older models?

I had several of the first gen rangers when I was young.. loved them..hard to hurt them.. I only sold each to move up to a newer or more equipped one.. Last one was an 87 STX with a 3.0 V6 and 5 speed, long bed. two tone blue and silver. Wish I still had it. I actually could pull out from a light against Mustang GT's until 3rd gear, then they would catch up and wipe their ass wiith me LOL.. Picture below is the spitting image of what mine looked like except mine was STX and had the wider wheels and Goodyear Eagle GT's..

I watched the muffler explode out from under one of these trucks. Didn’t even flinch fired it back up and on down the road. The farmers did not care as long as it ran.

No blindspots great for beggining drivers especially, like driving a ball turret, 360° field of unobstructed view and parks in slim spots. Ive owned 2 and currently have a 90 model with the 2.3 no complaints 290ish thousand on the odometer.

It was brought back in 2019 and has been made each year since. I have 2 and might buy a new 2025 xlt model..

I'm also a big fan of the older Ranger trucks. I had a 92 Ranger and ran the piss out of it. Wore it out several times and rebuilt it and ruined it and submerged it several more times and rebuilt it. Baby truck is tougher than a $2 steak. Had my 92 over 20 years and sold it to an old farmer back in the mountains nearby. Betcha the old monster is still running strong. That's my old Ranger in background of picture. It was parked on the street in front of house because it wasn't running at the time. Old girl spent a few months parked after an off roading mishap submerged it in 4 foot deep mudhole in NJ pine barrens. Water ruined transmission and transfer case. DIY transmission rebuild and used transfer case had the old girl running like a champ for plenty more years of service.
