Front head tube question please

#1
Hello all,
Building my own MB frame and would like some info on the head tube?
Could any one school me on what's all involved?
Basically, what is the anatomy of a basic head tube?
I assume connecting the forks to the main frame with nothing more than a bolt is not a good choice? image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg
Appreciate any help here.

Morning Gene, I always try to use a 5/8'' bolt as my pivot but I have used 1/2'' you need to try and find bearings or bushings to put in the head tube...all though some mini's used neither one.

I dug this old pic up for you ...its on my Savage.

Same bearings top and bottom and the bearings need a outer lock ring on them to keep them from pulling threw the tube.

I think the conversation should start with rake and trail. If you're going slow enough to where that is not an issue, then all you have to do is set your rake to what is pleasing to the eye, sporting a couple of oil lite bronze bushings on each end of the neck.

The vintage bikes were around 60-65 degrees by the way.
