Can anyone tell me the year of this motor? Was it made for a minibike? Odd fuel tank. I don’t know much about the minibikes and just curious. Thanks for any help.

Does the exhaust location help date the engine? The silver one does not look like a side popper.

I have seen mini bikes with that type of gas tank and air cleaner on them. Can you post a picture of the throttle setup on the rear of the cooling shroud? It could have been originally installed on a mini.

What year did they stop tagging H35s with the plate and start putting it on the shroud??? Possibly I'm off by 10 years and it's a 1973 not 63

Rupp rascal had at least some years with the side tank according to the brochure

I think it was used on Rupp go karts. The ones that had the car bodies on them. It has the later style throttle mechanism and air cleaner on it, so I think it is a 1973 year.

would agree it's a go kart motor. also it's 1973. that style of ID tag was only used in 1972 and 1973 (pressed-in numbers, opposed to raised number.)

With that spring return throttle, it was almost certainly a kart or mini bike.
Mowers and edgers did not use spring returns, generally.

Also forgot to mention it's a J series h35 which points to the 1970s.

My Alsport Tryke has that motor. Also the Rupp Monza, I think that's what it's called. Rupp chopper and Rupp Rascal mini bike also.
