Happy Birthday, Dad

#1
Today would have been my father's 100th birthday.

Leonard John Stein, May 12, 1917 - Jan 11, 2008. He made it to 90, so that's pretty good. Country boy, college grad, civil engineer. Army Corps of Engineers WWII vet and career civilian employee managing dam construction in the Pacific NW. What a swell dad. He gave me my passion for things mechanical and a love of the outdoors and travel and he put me through college. He tolerated my interest in two wheelers and racing (though he didn't exactly share that passion) and saw me through multiple serious injuries. Active in church and Boy Scouts. He was good to my mother and to us kids and he was close to his extended family. Until the last day he had the most magnificent block letter handwriting from his engineering and drafting experience. I miss him and think of him often. Once in awhile I'll hear his voice in my own.

Happy Birthday Mr. Stein.

Tom...you're a good guy.

Thanks for all your stories, and pictures. So many of them hit home, even though you're a couple thousand miles away.
