Harley Davidson X-90 Restoration

Brett,
A guy in Canada did my seat covers but Harley shut him down because of the logo. There is someone selling covers on ebay for about $24 without the logo, but I have not personally laid my hands on one yet.

Thanks for the reply! I've been watching the ones on eBay, but was hoping to find someone reproducing the ones with the HD name on them. I think I'll get one of the ones off eBay and will reproduce the print on the back (I'm a graphic designer and work for a contract screen print company) so I think I can manage that in the long run!

I appreciate the info, and have enjoyed reading up on your builds!

Thanks again - Brett!

Thanks Ruppster, here is a little history: Harley owned Aermacchi(an Italian motorcycle manufacturer) during the 60s and 70s. Harley filled their small bike gap(up to 350cc) with bikes from Italy. In 1972 they made the 65cc Shortster and from 1973-1975 they made the X-90s.

After reading your thread I am amazed by your restoration and ingenuity on the brake adjusters. Beautiful work. I just joined the forum and have spent the last 2 days reading threads and checking out the 28 pages of before and after pics. I'm thrilled to find a mini bike to fix up. I have been around motor cycles my entire life. My Dad is a Harley man. i was 2 years old the first time he took me for a ride. I was hooked. I'm happy to say we have been riding together for 23 years. I felt like a kid the first time I got to Ride my own bike side by side. I personally Have never owned a Harley. I'm thinking an X-90 would make an amazing first H-D
Oh my goodness. I can't believe I didn't know about these. My uncle owns about 50 bikes. He is into restoring. He would be greatly proud of me to restore an x-90.
Anyways, Great job. I appreciate the history lesson.

Great job on this bike!!! I posted looking for a couple of parts---I assume with all that you have done on these little bikes, you would have access?

Thanks,
Jeff

1974 x-90...I am looking for the piece on the twist grip throttle end that holds the cable in...where the end of the cable hooks into a chain-like piece.

The inner twist grip comes with the chain and the end piece to hold the throttle cable. You probably need to replace the entire inner twist grip.

Sorry to all for posting my very first post with a question. I couldn't find an answer with the search tool. My dad gave me his 1973 X-90 which needs a good restoration. The bike hasn't ran in years. I fixed and recoated the tank and now cleaned up the carb. I haven't gotten it to fire yet. But my question is about the mixture screws on the carb. I am not sure if they are set back in exactly where they are supposed to be. (I'm not a mechanic and I'm learning as I go). Does anyone have any information on where those screws need to be set at? Thanks for any help.
