Having some trouble dissasembling front fork on mini bike

#1
Hello,
Noticed last time on the trail my front shocks would occasionally bottom out.
The Mini bike is a Tomberlin Firehawk and has pretty much the same front forks as the Baja 200..
I was able to remove the shock. Undo the clip under the rubber outer seal.
Remove the top Allen nut (that has an o-ring) and remove the main spring.
There was just a little bit of oil(black oil).
I then went to loosen the allen bolt on the bottom of the shock (the dampeneing adjustment screw..?)
It got loose but wouldn't remove and also the shaft would not come out of the lower housing.

Any ideas on what I could be missing?
And any help or suggestions appreciated,

Thomas

With lower leg solidly mounted in vice you should be able to firmly grasp chrome part of fork and slide in to collapse then quickly extend with force which will drive out seal and bushing after confirming lower screw is backed out all the way. The bolt probably has a o ring on it that will hold it in place so when turning bolt counter clockwise feel for skip and it should be unscrewed enough. Clean all parts new seal fresh oil you should be good.

Thanks, I found a place where I got new ones (for the Baja but are almost identical to my old ones) for $45.
The only problem(not too bad of a prob.) is the new shocks are a bit shorter...or the cylinder is shorter...

Old shocks:

And new ones:

The Baja has only one clamping bolt per side and mine has 2 per side. The top clamping bolt slides or sits in a small 'half round' that's machined into the top of the shock. Guess I could just cut some off the bottom leaving the top bolt..?

Hey Triple A Arsenal,
It took a few calls hehe...First Tomberlin(which no longer deal in mini bikes), then got sent to Baja Motorsports and talked to Chris. He said to call his distributor/warehouse...can't recall the gentleman's name atm but will try and find it for you.
They have a pretty big selection of parts for the Baja mini bike and they bought the remaining parts and inventory from Tomberlin(I have the Tomberlin FireHawk mini bike which is almost identical to the Baja). They may also have inventory for other models.
I'll look for the distributors name and number for you...I wrote the info down, should be somewhere here in the workshop.
You could also try and contact Chris @ Baja Motorsports. Both were extremely helpful.
