They both look very similar. A VT-5 uses a five horse engine and a VT-7 uses a seven horse. The VT-5 I believe the lighted coil engine was optional and as I recall never came with electric start. The VT-7 came with a lighted coil and was electric start. The 5 has a smaller frame and tires than the 7 and a big block tecumseh won't fit in it. (Ask me how I know lol). Both bikes were commonly painted blue.
Rick Chatten probably will chime in and correct all my mistakes. There aren't many who know more than Rick on the Healds. I am certainly no authority. There may be other differences but I can't think of any now. I will try and get pictures up before the night is over.
