Hey guys I got a predator 212 that I just rebuilt after a blow up and it is extremely hard to pull start. I'm thinking maybe compression release. Let me know If you have any Ideas

what did you do on the rebuild...piston rod etc?? compression could be too high or somethings hitting somethin else or the cam timing could be off ...theres a bunch of things it could be

Was the engine turning freely before bolting the side plate back on?

I've done this too. It's lash, just like mentioned above. After you set it, pull lightly through the cycle a few times. Then set it again. I did this a couple times, and then I put it back together. Before this, I nearly took my hand off with kickback from the pull cord. It was a rookie mistake, but I learned my lesson, and I've not had that happen since.
