Herters build

#1
Bought this herters a few years ago, needed to do a few things to it to make it a nice rider so decided to rebuild it.

tore it down last weekend and had to fix a few things. Foot pegs were bent up on 1 side so i sleeved over both sides instead of potentially tearing up a good frame trying to cut old welds off

the powdercoater i go to always has some old custom colors on the shelf. So i didnt go there with a color in mind. Went with this green and satin black that he had on the shelf. I love it, pictures dont do it justice, green has alot of metallic in it and looks fantastic.

Waiting on some parts to come in now. Also have to work on the tank. After getting the tank down to chrome i found that they covered the chrome because of a big dent on the side that was filled with bondo. Probably going to the hardware store today, have to replace almost every nut and bolt. Nothing matches and almost all are stripped.

Just thought id share, been a while since i didn't just rattle can a bike.

Started putting the bike back together today with what i had here. Loving the way this bike is turning out so far.

Have to wait for some parts to come in to keep putting it back together. So in the meantime ill work on the tank, motor. Hopefully things start coming in, shipping times seem to be really slow for me right now.

Not much done in the last week or so, i did take the 5+ layers of paint off the tank and got it down to metal. It has some really nasty dents in it so i put some bondo on it to level everything out again. Its a really solid tank, just cant believe how beat up it is.

The plan is to hydro dip it. Going to bring it to someone tomorrow.

I did get the light set up to work with an m18 adapter that i found on ebay. Just have to make a bracket to mount the battery.

Not really an update but i bought a mini tire changer from harbor freight and just tried it out for the 1st time. I always struggle with the one piece wheels. It took me about 10 minutes to mount it to the workbench and figure out how to use it. Took me just a few minutes a wheel to actually mount them. It was really easy, nice tool to use. It doesnt damage the wheel or scratch it up either. 20210203_155934.jpg 20210203_155936.jpg

Got the bike together as a roller. Its coming together nicely so far. Made a bracket for the milwaukee battery too to bolt up under the seat.

Im suppose to be getting the tank back Tuesday from the hydro dipper. Cant wait to see how it turned out

Also, the predator i had on there i will use on another bike. Im going to pick up another today and i got a kit that i will install in it; flywheel, rod, valve springs, cam. First time doing that for me, have watched many videos and im excited about doing it. Ive never cracked open an engine before. 20210209_184427.jpg 20210209_184522.jpg 20210209_184433.jpg 20210209_184527.jpg

looking good bob. your going to need a helmet when you put that clone on that bike...lol. day and night from a flathead...:scooter: you will have fun with it.
I hope so, cant wait to get into it. I dont think ive ever been on a mini bike with any kind of motor upgrades. Should be fun, hopefully this will help me get more comfortable with doing more with the engines
