Homemade Jackshaft Plate

Was bored the other day so I decided to copy a jackshaft mount I had access to.

This was off a go kart, not sure of the brand, but it had a 20 or 30 series Comet on it.

I took a piece of 10 or 11 gauge sheet metal, cut it to width and length, then bend it in a box and pan brake. I couldn't make the flanges as tall as the other one because I had clearance issues with the brake.

It just so happened that my version slipped tightly over the other one making drilling the engine mounting holes very easy.

Drilled the holes and cleaned the plate up a little.

Cut a piece of 1-1/2" .065" wall DOM. Its not the 1-5/8" .120" wall DOM the other one was made of but a 1-3/8" OD bearing presses in just the same. I think it will work.

Cut another piece of sheet metal to cap it off and tacked it together. Maybe I'll finish welding it up this week.
