I have a rat bike rider that I am slowly improving from the condition I found it. 1972 Honda CL100. My question has to do with the rear fuel tank mount, common to all early 1970s small Hondas. The mount, shown in the pic below, is a rubber block with three slots cut in it, the lower two slots fits over two mounting tabs on the frame, the upper slot fits over a metal tab at the rear of the fuel tank. My current block is cut because it is made out of some extremely hard rubber and is nearly impossible to stretch over the gas tank tab even with the cut in it.
Ok, so back to the question, the seat also has a metal tab at the front of it that somehow engages with this block but I am not sure how. the tab is curved on the end making it impossible to stuff through the rubber block but it will not go under the block/mount either so it is currently sitting on top of the rubber block and I know this is not correct. How is the front seat tap supposed to be attached to the bike?
Hoping for an answer from someone who has actually had one of these bikes.
