How does the gas tank come off? 6.5 HF Clone

#1
just picked up a 6.5 HF Clone and shoved it in the frame I have, I need to remove the gas tank and possibly move it forward 2"-3" to clear the seat so I can fill it. Looking to see if somebody can tell me how it comes off? Maybe pictures, That would be great. .

I also thought I might put a neck out the front to clear the seat, Any ideas there?

Just go take a look at it. Its pretty obvious. theres two bolts on the front of the tank holding it to the engine and one bolt on the back of the tank. Just take them off and move the tank. You will also have to remove the fuel line from the carb, just look and youll see it. When i had the stock tank on mine the cap was right inbetween the top frame bars. i just used a funnel to fill it. Now i have a gas tank made out of a fire extinguisher and some piping that comes up right infront of the seat so i can fill it easily

I saw the two bolts in the front, Didn't see the rear one, Does the air cleaner need to come off to get at it? - It is in between the rails but the seat is over top of it. What did you use for a neck & cap on your new tank?

Yes the air cleaner does need to come off to get to the bolt, as well as to set up the throttle linkage. Just put a rag or something in the hole so as not to drop anything down the hole! What kind of frame is it? You could run a remote tank instead of trying to rig something to relocate the HF6.5 tank! Many people run those motorized bicycle tanks or a cylindrical one, I have a DB 2.8 tank from doing a swap mounted on my trailhorse and it looks like it belongs there! There are mant options so dont settle for a rigged deal unless you have no other choice!

it's a Ruttman Judge and it's a tight fit. Looks like i also need to lower the mounting plate to mid frame to get it to clear. I might hinge the seat at the rear and have it tip back to fill it, Might be the cleanest fix.

Post pics first! Dont cut a vintage minibike frame unless it is too far gone for restoration or at least a rider! They aint making any more of them! Buy an old or even newer briggs or tecumseh! I cut one that was rusted on the bottom tubes from sitting on the ground for years, and hesitated at that! It was a pretty common Arco I got with the EZrider on my avatar! Here it is when I first got it running, I now have made more mods and a different briggs engine.............
