How to dissemble the Comet 40 driver without special tools.

Here is the easy way to dissemble the Comet 40 Driver without grinding off the welds on the nut or without special tools. Place Driver with nut down and clamp in a bench vice. Tighten two C-clamps on the rim as shown in the photos. Use a section of wood to break loose Driver turning CCW. Remove C-clamps. Continue to unscrew CCW by hand.

I never understood why anyone would grind the welds off of the nut on the outboard sheave, it's completely unnecessary. Previous owner of my VT10-40 did that and ruined a perfectly good clutch.
NO special tools are needed to disassemble. Leave the clutch on the engine shaft, yank the spark plug and shove a rope down the hole to keep the engine from rotating. Spin out the bolt that holds it on the shaft, then put a WRENCH on the big nut and spin it off. Takes about two minutes, easy peasy
