Hi, Wanted to get some opinions on painting vintage Tecumseh engine. Up to this point I've never painted the fuel line & spark plug wire. I have painted the carb & muffler a few times, but most of the time I don't. Getting ready to paint this 1970 lighted HS40 with metal gas tank (see pics) and was going to paint "everything" white just like it was originally from the factory. It was on a 1970 Harrison Research mini bike and looking at old brochures engine was "all" white, carb, muffler, fuel line & spark plug wire. Actually those old tecumseh engines looked like they were dipped in paint!:rolleyes:
A while back Markus posted a few of this same engine painted all white, looked nice. Wanted to see what others think about it? Thanks

I found a pic of the same engine painted all white (see attached, sorry could only save as PDF). This was a Markus build. Although he didn't paint the spark plug wire as the factory did everything else is white.

Turned out beautiful, nice job.
Any plans on installing it in something?

Just too many different codes for the same color.
Or, too many names for the same color.
Just another reason why I do not paint.;)

@sparkwizard Painting is a simple thing if you have the gun and the air. Cheap stuff works. Codes? It doesn't work like that. You roll into NAPA, or the local automotive paint store if you live in a city, and you say "can I have some GM Arctic White?" Then, if it's our NAPA here in town, they tell you the "paint guy" isn't around, don't know where he is, or when he will come back," but a decent place will give you their paint chip books and you can look up colors and applications right there. Or, you can get the code from some well-meaning, but verbose former Marine on a mini bike website, and order a can of premix from Ebay under the actual code for about a nickle-two-ninety-five. About 40% of those cans fail, and the vendors know it, so the good ones will take care of you, if you have that happen. They work well, no gun to clean, and best of all, no gun to clean. Ret 9/99, 6391, S/F! Out!

For what little painting I do, Rustoleum Farm and Implement paint is pretty durable and easy for me to color match.
Did you spend any time on the East Coast?
