HS40 timing marks?

#1
Had another question about this HS40. I've had this before but the engine ran. This engine wont start and was wondering if this is the right cam? The line on Cam doesn't line up to dot on crank gear. Does it look right in the picture or could it be the wrong cam? This is for early lighted HS40 with a 3" PTO. Both lifters same size. What would be the correct part # for the Cam. Engine is missing the serial # plate to look up correct parts. Thanks in advance

Interesting. I don't know and I want to see what the smart people say.
Was the cam in that block when you took it apart? It looks like it was just not marked correctly, but if that was the case, it should run.

Yes this was the cam when I opened engine. But you never know with these old engines what was changed. I didn't notice it until I went to put engine back together. If necessary I'll just buy another cam unless someone says they have seen this and it's ok.
