Idles great, dies when i add throttle

So, I just put a gx 160 head on my bike and ported it. Then I drilled out the jet bc it would only run on choke. I did it incrementally until it seemed to run good but it's just all out of whack now. It idles smooth and dies if I add throttle unless I hold the brakes and get it to build up rpm slowly. I can't figure this thing out. Does any one have advice?

My guess is something isn’t matching up between the head / intake / carb… although..head scratcher…
Drilling the jet was a knee jerk reaction…understandable.

If you can spray starter fluid into it while you rev and it keeps going then your hi-speed circuit is probably the culprit. I have had some success pulling the adjustment screw out and using spray carb cleaner with the small tube attached. Put it in and spray. Also any of the small ports in the throat can benefit from this if you can reach them.

I'm guessing you're running way rich. Have you tried doing a run and seeing how the plug looks?

Are you still running the stock carb and stock exhaust?
