Just finished a CT200U!

This is real excitement gents (and ladies)!

I nabbed a bare CT200U chassis off MP, made some 1” square engine riser plates, mounted a Generac pressure washer motor, Chinese 30-series clone, new RK chain, new rear tire, radiator clamped a vintage steel milk crate (also from MP) on the rack (you can lift it by the crate, lol), and added an old gokart arm rest I had lying around on the back. Just need one of those slow moving vehicle tractor signs for the back and it’s done!

Two minor fabrication details… I added a deflector to the muffler so it wouldn’t turn the fender black (got a 5-pack off the auction site), then sliced the kickstand bracket, bent it out a few degrees, and rewelded it so it would lean over a bit further.

It has a zinc plating on it and a couple of worn-away spots had started to rust a little. I wire brushed that away and touch-up painted it with some hammered metal silver. So I did mess with it a little, lol. Anyway, this is a pretty pedestrian build, I just wanted a new thread to show-up in this subforum!

Well then it is better than you let on. I see now the effort (perhaps) to keep it “recognizable as a milk crate”. I like it even more. Fine work.

By the way, what was the condition of the bare frame? You didn’t indicate a repaint or anything but maybe that’s the boring part.

It was actually nice when I got it, though the engine was missing. The pic in the ad actually showed an engine (which was advertised as not running), and I agreed to the $200 asking price based on that. However, the engine was missing when I showed up. I guess I was feeling lazy that day, as I just handed the kid the money and loaded it up. It had the racks and everything, and I usually get motors for around $50 plus a $10 throttle linkage, so I didn’t feel too far out over my skis.

I haven't started my rebuild yet. I'm still in lurker mode.
Did you cut the chain guard bracket off? Mine has one, and I don't want to cut it. So I think that means I'll have to move my engine forward also. I plan on just buying the Amazon riser mount.

What's in volved in rotating the recoil 45 deg. to get the pull cord facing the rear? Just loosen, rotate, and remount?

1st question is yes, I did cut the chain guard mount/crossover member off the frame, ground the remnants down, then repainted. Can’t believe I forgot to mention that, as it involved some effort! Anyway, at the end of the day, it doesn’t provide much in the way of structural rigidity, and frees up space for the TC. Also, I like to use 1” square bar for my risers because I have it laying around and don’t have to pay for it, lol. Plus, if you go much higher, you’ll likely have clearance issues with the stock fuel tank/air cleaner/muffler hitting the top tube. In truth, spacing the engine up .5” might even clear the TC if I recall correctly.

2nd, yes, just unbolt the recoil, rotate the rope opening to where you like it, then refasten. If you don’t like your sticker being sideways, you can use a heat gun to carefully peel it away and restick it level.
