Lost A Best Friend

Yesterday we said good bye to our 10 yr old Great Dane Hoss. What a gut-punch. Hoss was definitely an Uber Dog who loved to back up onto your lap. His friendly eyes, droopy jowls and big bodied presence will be painfully missed.

Bud it’s a terrible loss…I am so very sorry and I feel your loss….id rather lose an arm than my dog….they are such a very small part of your life, you’ll have many in the years you live….but you are their WHOLE life…think about that….treat them with kindness and respect….they are the only thing on this earth that loves you more than them selves…God bless the animals….

So sorry for your loss, Fred.

We've lost many fur babies over the years and will lose plenty more as the years pass. I think it's important to remember how good of a life you gave them and in exchange they gave you the same and that's ultimately a great thing.

Like @relicracing said, They change everything..
My wife and I rescued a year old Mastif/Shepherd mix some years ago.. Damn dog was 105 lbs, and was the gentle giant LOL. Toughh even writing this without feeling my eyes welling up.. She was my young daughter's protector and and a best friend also to a Jack Russel we had..I called then them 2 Live Crew LOL... At about 12 years old, she started just shutting down and would just stare at us blankly for several minutes at a time and wouldnt respond to us whenever it happened.. Turned out her heart was stoppping periodically. Couple months later had to put her down.. They absoluetly leave a mark on you life for sure and I really belive they teach us humand how to love and respect.... @superflea know he loved you till the end.. Thats what they do... and they are good at it. I wish us humans could learn a lesson on that..

St68 I couldn't agree with you more. I have had dogs my whole life. They are a gift I sometimes think we are not worthy of. We also have a young Basset named Blu. He and Hoss had really bonded and he is still looking for his Buddy. Hoss was my Zen dog and I swear he could read my mind. The picture of him that I posted kind of says it all like he's telling me," chill dude, I got your back."

My two Knuckleheads I have now.. They are half sisters (same father) .. great dogs, about a year apart. The smaller one to the right is my shadow LOL. I had just brought this new car trailer home last July..They like to sun themselves. They were both rescued at the onset of COVID.. Nobody wanted them.. I could tell stories with these two LOL.. Always an adventure with these two.. Part of the family..
