Lost A Best Friend

#21
I am so sorry for your loss. Its been about two years since our last dog passed away.
Since our son has some allergies, we now have mini pigs. They are not as active as dogs, but they are still family members. A home without pets is just a house.

It's funny, over the last 30 years we have had 5 dogs and 1 cat. I only ever picked 1, a dog, from a litter. Come to think about it, he's the only 1 I ever named, The rest just kind of showed up and already had names. Loved all of them. They are all gone but not forgotten.
I feel your pain.

We have a pretty little cat who lives in the yard somewhere. We feed her on the front porch, she walks to the bus stop with Will every morning and she waits in the bushes for him to get home. Will and I can pet her, but nobody else, and nobody can pick her up. We call her "Momma" because she is always out there somewhere, looking after the property. This winter, she has been seen sharing her food with a pair of opossums.
Animals are the best neighbors we can have. I want to bring this little cat inside, but Wifey has a bottle-fed feral female in the house already. I never see her, but she is always on top of her Mommy at bed time.

We live rural and feed some farm cats and ones that get dumped.
Anyway a few years back an opossum hung out here for about 2 weeks. seeing it waiting underneath the gas grill on the back porch along side the cats was the coolest thing.
Animals, unlike most humans, can get along with a lot of different types.
The Amish near me have chickens in with Cattle, etc. They just give each other space.
