"LS10" camshaft 5hp briggs

Does LS10 ring a bell with anyone for a modified camshaft? Briggs 5hp. Thats the only thing stamped on the gear.

Probably a custom grind. They took the base circle of that cam down pretty far to get more lift. Have you measured the lift?

I don't think that conn rod will come apart! Pretty stout piece!

not yet, comparing it to another engine I have with the head off the lift does not appear to be there, overlap and duration though.......

I gotta rig up a fixture to measure with yet, trying to hit the "easy button" hoping there might be some info on it out there :wink:

Fixture is not needed! Measure base circle then measure top of lobe at 90* angle. Do a little subtraction and you have your lift figure. You are right about the overlap and especially duration. That is how they made more power with "stock" (wink) lift!
