just wondering if anyone ever uses mmo...
i bought a bottle to lube up a old cars pistons that had sat for many years before turning the motor over.
figured since i had this stuff i would put some in the oil and gas of one of my old briggs and go through a tank of gas with this stuff in it before changing the oil.

anyone got good or bad experiences with this stuff?

Great question. Maybe it's me but I find the oil looks like oil when I change a motor treated with marvel, where a similar shot of sea-foam presents a little more diluted dirty oil. I wish there was a chart breaking down all these treatments' primary ingredients. Mechanical minds want to know..

I have put in spark plug holes and down the valve covers of old motors that haven't run in years...that was when I could only afford clunkers that were sitting....the fifty dollar specials. the old kodger next door would say....kerosene is better...lol
mostly good luck

I suspect most are something like that...kerosene. I understand people really swear by the Marvel Mystery Oil though. More of a conditioner than a detergent maybe. Nice packaging.

so i dumped mmo in the gas tank and crank case and basically let the briggs 3.5 idle for about an hour, revving the engine every 10 or 15 minutes which would blow a nice death cloud out the exhaust and clear up. on that bike i never put a kill switch on it. i just choke it till it dies. but yesterday it wouldn't die till i pulled the throttle with the choke on then it shut down. so maybe the mmo cleared up a little something in the carb. and today when starting it cold i swear it has quite a bit more resistance while pulling the cord... possibly more compression. i didnt do a compression check or even pulled the spark plug to see if it was clean or dirty im just screwing around while piddling around in the yard. but i think im noticing slight improvements with my old 3.5 briggs while doing basically nothing to it

I’ve used Marvel mystery oil for almost 50 years. I’ve recommended it to many people along the way. Most people add it to their oil which is fine but I also add it to the gasoline on all of my 4-stroke engines. It’s a top end lubricant by nature and it removes varnish and carbon deposits on the valves etc which makes them work and seal better thereby making your engine run cleaner and more efficiently. I use it in my ‘97 F150 with 200k plus miles and you could set a cup of coffee on the engine it and it would not spill. I think it’s a great product.

so around an hour of idling today the motor just putted out and died. so i let the engine cool down and pulled the spark plug and it was fouled pretty good (i kinda expected that with putting oil in the gas without measuring and letting it idle for so long) so i cleaned up the plug and it started right up so i went out riding through the neighborhoods. that motor is running great, it always ran good but i definitely notice more power all the way through the throttle. theres still about a half tank of mmo gas left so next weekend il finish burning that off by riding (not idling) and change the oil and refill with normal gas and see. but so far im pleasantly surprised

their website says "4 ounces of Marvel Mystery Oil or Marvel Ultimate Oil to every 10 gallons of diesel or gas..." but i just dumped it in the tank till i figured it was more than likely too much... figured it probably wouldn't explode lol

The first time I used it was in my blazer with 350 that was burning a quart every 600 miles. After putting it in the oil it was a quart every 2k. So I guess it freed off the rings or sealed the valve seals. It was weird because it wasnt sitting around it was always a daily drier. I still put it in stuff but never had a noticeable difference in anything since then.

so i burned off the rest of the mmo gas and refilled with regular pump gas and changed out the old muck oil (it really needed it) with some nice new stuff and cleaned the spark plug again (it was fouling again) and took it around the neighborhood again. and yes the motor does run better still a little more power, starts easier, and idles a little better... are these huge changes? no... but they are noticeable for my very minute efforts. i think i will continue to use marvel mystery oil from time to time as i think it will be a good preventative thing...

Please stop choking the engine to shut it off.
It just washes the cylinder wall down with fresh gas and then letting it slowly drip its way into the oil after being stopped.
This also contributes to plug fowling.
If you do not want to do a kill switch, go Old School go kart style and hook up a zip tie to the plug wire at the boot, quick yank and hold and Walla!, engine shut down at idle.

i know... just never got around to adding the kill switch to that bike. i rarely ride that one because i have it geared pretty low for hills, not very fast. but since iv been goofing with it more this past week il probably address the few odds and ends that i never finished when i put it together, like the kill switch and the wheel bearing spacer inside the front wheel...
