Heres the latest project I brought home a while ago.
Found on marketplace the ad only showed a terrible pic of the roller.
It was a bit of a ride too the sellers place and my ideas and thoughts for the project were running wild.

Upon arrival at the sellers i was surprised to see there was a beat up points style tec hs50 with the bike.
That engine totally changed the plans I came up with.
Even though it's not the oe engine i was still stoked too know I only had too fix one up instead of searching for a donor.

It was clearly evident this bike needed a bunch of attention everywhere.

I have been greatly regretting selling my rupp scrambler I had forever and am thinkin this bike can fulfill my wants for another mini cycle, and one I dont mind too modify.

On too the second set things went a bit faster/easier except one of the plastic sleeves was melted and broke.

I used a vinegar soak too clean the chrome retainers and bushing sleeves. And a clr soak for the rubber bushings.

I use crushed glass(cheap media) in my blast cabinet and pot.
I like the look of clear coat on blasted aluminum.

Only on the rears did my krylon clearcoat wrinkle up....twice.
I ended up blasting the rear shock bodies 3 times and was surprised how tough fresh krylon was too blast off.

Guess I didnt wait for the black krylon too outgass long enough.

I pondered just putting them together without the brittle sleeves but I found a decent solution in my stash of junk.

I found this tough plastic sleeving on what I think was closet rod, with a bit of epoxy and time I have useable sleeves that aren't as brittle.

At the time of purchase I didnt notice under all the dust and dirt that the tank had goop smeared on the bottom,
kind of a disappoint but just another thing that eventually gonna need attention.

I did find in my junk pile a gas cap that fits the tank,so that's a plus.

That bike above is nice because it's the 12" front wheel version.
I just did one, bought it for $100. it needed *a lot* of work. But turned out nice. Has a 12" front wheel too. And a 1997 Tecumseh HSSK50 engine with a really clean bore and new oversize rings with the gap cut to .008. Has a slide carb, open exhaust, and a Precision 30/30 cam (a dynacam245 clone.) The thing kicks some butt! And you do not need a ball bearing crank to get good performance. And this motor has the late small exhaust valve and smaller HS50 bore. All i need to do is get a nice LED headlight (the engine has an alternator.)

Looking the tec over i noticed all the head bolts were loose and there was no head gasket, or spark but otherwise with a cleaning and a good going over it looked like it should be a usable runner.

Ordered gaskets and a carb, and found a few other parts, then started on a scrap pipe header and tail pipe.

I also scrubbed the bars clean, the chrome certainly isnt perfect but its acceptable to me.

One thing I really didnt like about this bike was the thick coat of brushed on white paint that's on the wheels/ rims.
I wire brushed it to death with minimal results.

Tore down the rear swing arm and wheel.
The swing arm u bolts were blasted clean and got new washers and nylocs while the plastic parts got a good scrubbing.

Cleaned up the rear brake , it all looked in very good shape, the drum needed some sanding but it cleaned up nicely also the pads/shoes were cleaned and scuffed.
Rear wheel required a few coats of paint stripper to get that thick paint of

Lots of effort went into cleaning up that rear wheel the best I could and in the end I still couldn't get the inner part of the hub and around a the nipples very clean but itll be good enough.

Good side by side pic of the painted rim
