MTD Trail Flight brake cable question.

So I jumped the gun and bought a new brake lever and cable combination for my MTD Trail Flight before checking the set up on the bike. But upon getting it its quite clear the cable isnt close to the original one. My question is which one is correct. Pictures for references. Thanks

You can just shrink that end down with a solder gun and cut that little tab off the other end.

The end with the adjuster isnt going to be able to do that. The end cap is smashed. Im hoping to find a repo cable that will work. Thanks
