My thoughts on a possible mini bike build

Where are you at on this now... Any more progress?
Sorry for the hiatus. Although times may call me away, I am determined it to let this project linger for long.
for the past couple months, I had been helping my now ex-girlfriend take care of things at her house while she recovered from a tendon tear in her elbow. Before that extended stay, I was having difficulty gathering the parts and work to have a stand welded for the bender I have purchased.

Good news is, now I am back at my place, I have a Woodward stand to mount the bender, and I also picked up a little something to get me reinvigorated with the project.

There are two things that affect me working on this that I must get done by the beginning of November.
First, I HAVE to get this garage cleaned out and organized. not only to create the space necessary to mount and use the bender, but..
Two, the ex-wife has asked me to clear out the remainder of my belongings in her garage. That’s 20 years of stuff. And I must make room in the current garage to house the majority of it.
I’ve been down this road once, and dumped a whole bunch of stuff. The remainder, which probably stands about 6’ tall on three pallets, are all that is left; but this garage I’m in now is TINY!

Anyone that is within driving distance to Louisville KY, I’m likely to have some car audio and pedal trike stuff that I am willing to give away to a good home. I’d hate to see some of this stuff simply tossed in a dumpster. PM me, and I’ll let you know what I have and when to contact me get it.

Anyhoo, second week of November, I should be back at it. On a good note, the pics should be less cluttered. Lol!

Update: back at it; but switching gears to focus on the engine for now. The garage is cluttered again (lol) with the things I gathered from the Ex’s. Add to that, I haven’t gotten the four pieces in f tubing back from the gentleman that was turning them down for me. Progress is still progress, I guess.

I lucked out on the intake tubing to mount the 30mm Nibbi carb I purchased. The base mount that came with the carb was the perfect bolt pattern and inlet for the Vanguard’s intake. Amazon has 35mm 90* aluminum tubing that I used between the carb and intake.
The only concern I have, is that I was not able to bead roll the intake side of the tubing. I tried to on another piece of tubing (sold in pairs), and it would distort, being so close to the elbow. Hopefully, it is able to seal up well.

I broke out the Dremel, and did my best to smooth out the transitions at the inlet on the Vanguard’s intake. The inlet sits lower than the outlets, and creates a short turn that is tighter than 90*. One side still has a small ridge that I can’t remove; but it is better than stock.

I also purchased a set of 16hp heads with aluminum rockers. Again, I used the Dremel to soften the short side of both the intake and exhaust; blend the walls in, and clean up casting marks.
I also smoothed the valve guide protrusion on the exhaust side to allow for more flow. Beforehand, I couldn’t run my finger into the exhaust port without my knuckle hitting the valve guide. Now there is a bit more room. IMG_6807.jpeg
