New kid.

Well, I need advice. My eleven year old wants to build a mini bike to mount his horse and a half to. I was thinking an Azusa kit because the price is right. All comments and suggestions are welcome (and needed). Here are some pics of his engine.

If your set on a kit, then the Azusa will work just fine!

Thanks, I can't find very many more for the same price and a lot of the craigslist stuff ain't too good.

Welcome to the board.:thumbsup: Yeah Azusa makes a good frame and fork, you'd be better with a scrub type brake though and there are those who can make you one. The Azusa brake stuff sucks really, at least in my experience. I have a chance to buy a really old edger with that same engine complete with air cleaner for $20 near me, didn't know the HP though. Still a good deal for the $, I may get it.

I have a mini with an azusa drum brake and it does suck. It jerks and squeals when engaged. I am going to weld a scrub brake on it.

My kid got this engine from grandpa, who rescued it from the side of the road. The kid is having a blast messing with it.

Here is mine. i posted it in "what is it" a while back. I guess it is a Joe from LA. I got it off Craigslist and got a bunch of stuff from Azusa to complete it.

There's a member down the road from you in Norwalk named Mac, he's always finding decent bikes, and sells them reasonably priced.

Hey, with the help of several OldMiniBikes members, we got it pretty much together. the little motor scoots pretty good with a 70 pound kid on the bike. Here are a couple pictures. It will be in our Jr. Dragster pit at Barona.

Its good to see the Kids getting their hands dirty.
I had to yell at a couple of kids in Windber " Hey you kids put down that football and get back on your minibikes" lol
