Thank you. I am a newbie on these minibikes. This is the 2nd roller I have bought, the other is an Arco. So far, I really havent worked on either, but getting caught up with my honey do list, so soon I hope. I dont plan on doing a faithful restoration, but just a clean driver type, without destroying anything. Where do I go for things like the jack shaft, and maybe some other minibike parts, that is not Amazon, or Ebay?
That bike looks amazing! For you guys that have redone these bikes. How does the front fork come apart? I see two bolts towards the top of the fork, on either side, do they somehow keep the telescoping suspension part from dropping out? I have a friend with a bead blasting cabinet, and I would like to clean up some parts. Thinking the suspension parts, and maybe the wheels. He does VW carburetors, stock and performance in there, so should be safe for the wheels I would think.
I was quoted almost 600.00 to sand blast and powder coat. Im retired, and got this project to give me something to work on. Anyways, Im a glutton for punishment. Spent about 2 hours with a cup wire brush on my grinder and removed all the old paint and powder coat. I still have to do the swing arm, and remove paint I couldnt get with the grinder. Those areas I will burn the paint with a propane torch, and brush off with the brush in the pic. Already tried it, and it works well, and quick. Not sure what Im going to do with the paint yet.

That is a ridiculous price! I pay $220 all in, blast and PC. I've been paying $100 for blasting a frame, then shooting my own 3 stage paint schemes. A quart of urethane clear with catalyst and reducer is over $100. To spray a bike with a single stage (acrylic enamel) red costs more than getting it sand blasted and powder coated red.
I have done the propane torch wire brush stripping method as well. Works good in the small nooks and crannies. Also, with the new idiot proof stripper, I found that keeping it in a plastic bag/wrapping in plastic- allows it to remove paint a lot better.
I'm retired as well, and still place a value on my own time. I am always (daily) in the garage working on a bike or something related, so I get where you are at with this. Post photos of your brake parts, or any other questions on mechanics and someone will chime in with solid solutions.

I would happily pay what you are paying for powder coat if that was what I was quoted. Unfortunately, not many powder coaters near me anymore, and prices are crazy. I also asked about 2 hanging metal chairs, and was quoted 280.00 to 380.00 per chair for white. Where do you get your powder coating done?
My sandblaster charged $100 to blast the frame, forks & swing arm. I decided to go with paint instead of powder coat for easy touch-up. Check out Another Bonanza Project for a progress report.
