Non-Hemi build

A lot of the 60363 engines that I've got seem to be always around .020 to .025 in the hole....and it has the flat top piston in it.

Seems like it to me too....but for $100.00 they are all good to me. I'm with CarPlay and Trinik use your dish piston and get the piston up in the hole, use a Viton .009 or.010 thick head gasket....then get your head flatmilled .020, .030, .040 or more.. and go with it.

I would put the stock height flat top piston same height as the stock piston with out the dish If your going to use the stock rod. I have a hemi piston in my 730 predator with a +.040 rod and am .008 in the hole.

Unfortunately, I don't think I can get that close to 0. My block is just not nice.

I had two 730 blocks to pick from they both made strong engines. I used the one that was less in the hole for my " built motor" and the other for a stocker motor. I put a stock height flat top in the stockish motor and its a beast . Both have there advantages I used a .010 head gasket on both but had to use some washers for the spark plug so the piston would not break the tip off on the "built" motor. On the one that is deeper in the hole I put in a stock size spark plug and didn't have to worry about washers for it.

Question about assembly lube: I want to assemble everything except for the head for right now, will assembly lube stay on the parts for a month or two until I complete everything? Since it's winter, I don't think I'll be using it until spring.

Got everything put together. I decided to go with a black mamba cam instead of the 308. I now need a header and carb. What does everyone recommend?

If you decide on running a Mikuni carb, I would suggest the kit on smallenginecams.com site: I purchased these separately in hopes of saving some money, but ended up spending more and the fit was not good on the intake I chose. I plan on running this setup on my Hemi, once I begin to build it. I am 99% sure this is a Chikuni carb, but they move some air once tuned right. I am also pretty certain the intake has a D port on the head side which you need.
