Greetings all. I was looking on the internet last night for an engine replacement for my Doodle bug and found a whole forum for it. Way cool.
I bought the DB 2 years ago for my then 16 year old kids to play with in the desert along with the Yerfdog. Since then we have upgraded to UTVs ATVs and dirt bikes.
But I still like putting around with the DB except for the lack of engine power. This thing is gutless with my 6'2" 250# on it. My kids are half my weight and it really moves out with them. Plus I think it is wore out.
Back in 1974 I was 14. I found an old minibike complete with wasted motor. Me and my much older shop teacher brother rebuilt the Briggs and I rode that thing all over the small town we lived in at the time until my bro. got mad a my mother and to "teach her a lesson" he took my precious engine off and put it on a tiller and sold the clutch for $20 then gave the frame back to me. Nice guy:thumbdown:
Well, time heals and I got over it and now I have all the toys and HE wants to play with them.:bowdown:
Anyway, I was reading the forum and I will be upgrading the motor and clutch to get this thing running again. The weather is trying to get nice here in the Phoenix area and its time to ride.
I don't remember the poster but he has a kit for an engine swap that would make my live easier. Pleas let me know who that is. I also need a new brake lever. It seems that a silent family member let the DB fall and it landed on the leaver braking it off. I tried to use a bicycle but it wouldn't fit.
