Are you talking about the nut on the end of the crank? (outside of the clutch)

If so I just remove it with an impact wrench

This might be good time to mention...I have an electric 1/2" impact gun (Dewalt) that I bought used at a flea market years ago for $20. I use when I don't feel like starting up the compressor and waiting for it...I just used it today to change a tire on my GMC Suburban and to break loose some big rusty hardware on a '37 Ford axle that had been in place for all 73 years and that thing kicks a**!!!
somewhat bulky, but it's as strong as my air gun....
A good option if you don't have compressed air.......
