old shop photos

was in the motorcycle biz for 30 years here are a couple photos of my old service area
I see a Sunnen 1810 power stroker there...at one time (late 70's) my father's shop boasted just about every peice of equipment Sunnen made. I started on one of those when I was 16 (35 yrs ago) and just used it a few weeks ago to bore out a Tecumseh 2-1/2 .
...nice clean shop.

Looks more like a sterile lab than a shop! Really nice! Almost seems like you would spend as much time cleaning as fixing the bikes though!

that's cool...we had a Harley barrel fixture for our CK-10....held two barrels side by side..couple of 1/2" aluminum plates with a center hold down stud...I don't remember if it was factory Sunnen or something we made in house..this would have been around 78-'79

there was a Sunnen factory rep named Frank Steenstra (sp?)...little old school guy who smoked a pipe. You could call him up if you had a problem or needed instruction on a new piece of eqipment. He would show up with a suit and tie on, get a cup of coffee, light up his pipe, roll up his shirt sleeves and start operating the equipment. That guy was a genius with that stuff, I loved learning from him....man that brings back good memories.
I miss the 70's...gotta see if I can dig up some old shop photos.
