opinions on motor purchased

i recently purchased a motor from a member, and had asked specific questions like is it a real gx 200 ? does it have a 3/4 shaft ? does it have a keyway, and does it run. asked questions so there would be no surprises

well this is what i got.

let this be a lesson, ask for pictures of the specific parts being purchased. i knew that. but there i go , saying it should be all right. there i go thinking..lol

yes it is a gx 200,
yes it has a 3/4 shaft,
but it that really a keyway??? questionable,
does it run questionble.
see the carb whats up with that. and the bolt is tight on the bottom.

when someones ask if it runs, usually that means right out of the box. not like i got it.

the member says the shaft is fine.

who aggress ???

the only thing you can do with that is cut another keyway at 180 from that one. Hope you planed on re building the whole thing.

I have thrown away better motors than that :scared:. This is why that trader rating is so important. If you cant work it out with the member, then hammer him with the truth so nobody else gets ripped off.:hammer:

I think a full refund with return shipping and a few bucks for your trouble/silence is in order here. The word scandalous comes to mind when I see things like this. I got a "great running" 5.5 briggs off ebay and had to do quite a bit to it to even get it to run at all. Buyer beware I suppose but we don't do that to one another here. I like to keep my trader rating clean and have so far because I am honest in my description. I expect no less when I buy an item.
