Perris

Edwin,
Thanks alot. You, Dan and I had some extremely close racing. I think there were plenty of times where there was only a couple of inches between us around the corners. I was outside of Dan as he was sliding thinking I better give him some more room. Then when I did you shot in!!!

I'm glad everybody had a good time. The track once again was perfect.

Thanks for the pictures Motormind.

Edwin, I agree, You on the Bonanza should be the plaque photo.

Guardrail, don't worry, it won't be much longer.

Missing in Action

Paul,
You were missed!! Sorry you caught a bug at the last minute. There's already pictures up so you can see part of what you missed.

It was about 80 degrees and the track was perfect.

Talk to you soon!

Top speed

Edwin,

Fede and I were driving home working the numbers off the new tachs we have on the bikes to figure out what the top speed was on the straights.

I've checked it now 3 times after measuring the circumference on the rear tires of both bikes.

I have Fede at a top speed of 43 MPH and me at 46. What do you think?

If this is right, we're going alot faster than I thought!

just curious whats the numbers off the tach ? what is it ? your highest rpm ?

i think those speeds would be more accurate for ventura being a larger track. but none the less im pretty sure its close to at least 40/45
maybe. which is pretty good if you ask me!!

Top speed

Edwin,

Fede's tach hit 7680. He's geared 10 at the clutch to a 20 tooth, then another 10 to a 50 on the wheel...10 to 1. His rear tire rolls out to exactly 5 feet.

My tach hit just over 7000. I've got a 12 tooth on the clutch to a 22 tooth, then 10 to a 50 on the wheel...9.16 to 1. My rear tire rolls out to 64 inches or 5.33 feet.

Tony and I were talking with Guardrail and we were thinking 30 to 40 MPH tops. Still, I have trouble believing we hit over 45. But I don't think the tachs are bad on both bikes. In fact when you look at the gearing difference between the two bikes and compare the tach readings, it seems more right.

When you work the math, even though Fede was turning higher rpm's, he wasn't going as fast as us down the straight. Which is also right.
