Decided to spend a little time on the Murray. Put on new handlebars, a good 5" taller in the hand grip area. Required longer brake and throttle cables, particularly the casing (I could replace just the cable itself with a longer one, but the outer plenum would still be too short). Picked up a new throttle assembly that arrived 3" shorter than advertised, and just made it to the carb. Used a portion of the old throttle cable casing to add to the brake and bought a new cable at the local bike shop. Replaced the brake band with a new one while I was there. All in the upgrades cost about $60.
The handlebars were cheap $21, and the grooves for the clamp down are a little off and on one side the groves are not very good, so ultimately may have to change them, but lets see how the clamps hold.
