Rascal Build Log

#1
I have had a brand spanking new built predator sitting on the shelf since covid lockdowns waiting for a mini build. So I thought maybe it was time to finish this project. While browsing FB marketplace, I spotted a GPS Rascal frame for trade and I inquired about cash price and took her home for $150. Frame is straight, headset is tight, Sarge Green powdercoat is good, wheels and bearings are good, seat is ok. I like these frames because they are old school small wheel, rigid frames (as a proper mini bike should be) but use better tires and a big ol hydro brake. Very happy with this and I can start building on it right away without mucking about with paint and such.

I'm going to try to keep the cost down on this and still have a nice build. I got a good start with the frame but we'll see how it goes.

Will post updates.

I pulled up the motor info. Built in 2021. Never started.

PVL Flywheel Predator 212 Hemi
DynoCams CM Grind, Clone, Hemi
ARC 6256 Billet Rod, HF Predator +.020
22mm carb

Should be spicy.

The bars and clamps that came on the bike were trash. I wanted a lower bar setup than stock anyway and got these Emgo bars for $10, old stock at a shop. He also has a set of scrambler bars I might go back and buy. Then the ever popular tall China bar clamps. The clamping area had terrible casting flash and required some work, but they are fine now. I've got plenty of knee clearance with this setup. What do ya want for ten bucks, right?

I also ginned up some fork hole plugs on my 3d printer.

Tires, brake caliper and rear end are together. None of the hardware except the axle bolts was included, so I had to sort out the spacers myself. I used my 3d printer to print test spacers, then ordered the exact size I needed. No janky stacks of washers here. Hopefully the chainline is workable when the motor goes in because I want to keep the wheel dead centered.

Front spacers 4mm thick x2. Rear spacers 23mm thick x2. Rear caliper spacers 10mm x2.

I tried to go the aliex route with the brake but determined it was just a whole lot of trouble to save maybe 30 bucks. The brake I can find, the specific adapter I can't. I just ordered it from amazon for $80. I ordered a shorter brakeline to go with the bar setup. I was going to bend the rotor straight until I realized they are only $10, so new rotor too.

The tires went on as easy as you please with some... water soluble lubricant.
