Anyone else notice that most police officers are now lenient towards people safely riding on the streets? That's what's happening here in SoCal. I haven't ridden in main streets but ride the asphalt trails around my neighborhood without problems. I noticed it even before covid hit. This video shows how it is in my neighborhood. @desert rat I think these are some of the mini bike riders you told me about. EDIT: I know the burbs are different because of the noise.

I think it still matters where you are at. Last summer when I put my bike together the very first test ride some busy body neighbor called police on me. And I only went down the street once with the stock muffler. After a quick jet change the police slowly drove by giving me the stink eye as I was in the driveway about to make a second run. I know someone called because the timing fit and they usually do not come down my street.

But this is in a suburb. If I took the bike back to the neighborhood in the city I came from I would be able to ride all I want down there.

There ain't nothing like the sound of a herd of single cylinder mini bikes popping and braaapping around.

Lotsa predators in that herd...lol.

From the first 5 minutes I've watched, it looks like they are having fun. I don't know if they are being very safe, on the wrong side of the road at times, but they are having fun !

We used to get to do a somewhat police escorted ride in Windber. In to town, then lead off the Miners day parade, then ride back out to Jeff's, it was a hoot.

Ride on y'all.

Citys tolerate noise more compared to the burbs I guess. I agree that it depends on the area you live in but it wasn't like that here a couple of years ago. I know they would confiscate the bike for sure because it happened to one of my son's friends a couple of years ago.

Don't forget the smell of gasoline and oil!! The sounds are music to some people's ears..
Dang predator taking over. Lol

True not all of these riders are being as safe as they should. That's something that should be addressed by the organisers before the ride.

We are out in the country. I see an occasional untagged dirt bike (and mowers) going down the road. Don't think anyone would call on us, but I think if the law saw you riding they'd pull you and, at minimum, send you home around here. Many of our roads have decent shoulders, might get away with riding on those a bit... I do run my little garden tractor and trailer down the road from time to time to pick up hay, but haven't encountered the law, yet...

My $80 ticket says differently. In NJ you are supposed to have it registered and insured. They wrote up unregistered but had they wrote up uninsured, I could have lost my drivers license and second offence, jail. Oh and it was a mandatory appearance in front of a judge. Weaseled out of that but not the fine.

Riding your tractor on the road reminded me of this kid that used a tractor diamond sing on his mini to be "legal". Don't know if that would really work out on the country roads.

Heck in my town they really don’t seem to care....but I’m not running stop signs or anything....I’m giving all right of way to cars etc....cop pulled up along side of me sitting at a stop sign and wanted to buy the green Gilson.....just had to laugh
Do you have lights and horn on the Gilson? I'd be nervous riding something nice and then get confiscated or impounded.

I have no lights no horn and the brakes are suspect....wouldn’t have it any other way....not afraid of impoundment.....they’d have to catch me first! And we’ve all been to jail at least once...right?
