Ross Hoss

New member tonight. Recently aquired a Ross Hoss 3 wheel linear off road mini bike. There doesn't seem to be much information about the bikes. I have found a couple of photos on the net but no history or info. Seems to be complete and original except for an updated Briggs & Stratton. Any help would be appreciated.

How many threads of same info?

Hello, I have some info I can pass along regarding the Ross Hoss. I am going to pick one up next week. It was built by RH Ross in texas. A friend of mine invested in the company and has the original contract and stock certificate, All the stuff is dated 1963. He didn't think mant were built as he never got his $2000 investment back. I will know more when I start working on it back here at the shop. The one I will have is all original but has been outside for years in a shed, Are you planniing on restoring yours??

I have one that I picked up from a friend some years ago in Amarillo. It was non-operational and I have working at restoring it for a few years and am close to a start up. It has been a challenge and had to give up on the original engine. The centrifical clutch has me concerned at this point but I will figure it out. The original was not with it. I have lots of pics of the tear down and build. I typically build old hot rods but this has been fun. I will post some pics as soon as I figure out how to do that here. Being mfg in Texas makes sense as most I have seen for sale have been in Texas.

No, I have not received any info. I did receive photos from texasdector last year. I am very interested in the history. Mine came from the Amarillo, Texas area and looks mostly original with a newer model B/S engine. Would appreciate any and all info, history and photos.

Thanks

I grew up in Pampa Texas with my grandfather and he bought one he used to hunt with. I rode the hell out of it as a child. Was curious if other people had one. My uncle still has it in near perfect shape. Had to manufacture a clutch for it and added a sissy bar to strap things too. Pretty cool I'll see if I can get pics.

Hello again,
Have you discovered any new information on the history of the Ross Hoss Mini Bikes. Is there any information on the contract or stock certificate, like what city the bikes were built, any info on R H Hoss. It seems that most of the bikes that are showing up are from Texas and maybe a couple from Colorado. Mine came from the Amarillo area.

How is your restoration progress? I do not plan to restore mine, I am big on original. I would like to find out what engine most of them had and find a replacement for my 8 HP Brigs from the 70s. The rest of the bike looks to be original.

Sam
