Rupp Kart Roller $250

#1
Had this at the recent Perkiomen Meet, where it was identified as a Rupp frame for a bodied kart. The internet has photos of a Gremlin body kart that looks like it, minus the grated side floors. The body mount “roll bars“ are missing but you can see where they were. Floor needs replacing but the rest is pretty straight and solid. The motor plate is very nice. $250 in Millville, NJ.

It seems to check out as a Rupp Gremlin or other bodied kart. Judging from the low precision steering components and the scrub brakes it appears to be meant for promotional use and low speed endeavors like parades.

They made a Gremlin, Beetle and Vega versions. No Corvettes, just all the crap economy cars that arose from the fuel crisis of the 70's. Wonder if they made the Mustang II and Duster? Where's the Pinto version? :D

Beetle version documented here:

It's got enough "vintage" details to make a retro kart of some kind. Just replace the rod-in-hole steering linkages for some decent heim joints and a band brake and drum on the sprocket. Tidy up the welds and imperfections.
