I've been heating my 24x24 fully insulated garage with a QMark hanging electric heater from Grainger. I don't remember the size but it will get the garage as hot as anyone could hope for. It's been heating the garage for 12 years with no issues.

Does anyone use the on-the-wall gas heaters? Like the Procom heaters that Harbor Freight sells? I use one in the addition of my house. They heat up really fast and would likely have no problems heating a 24x24 garage

The best part is, you can use a 20lb cylinder with no issues (just make sure you have a regulator)

I use 110v 1500w infrared and a small 240 electric in my 18 x 26 insulated shop. Both are small portable units, winters where I live in B.C. only go down to -5 F, the infrared is great being portable you can direct it right at you if your working under a car, especially if your working on cold concrete floors. Every thing in front of it absorbs infrared rays. It measures about 12" x 24" and 4" thick. I only turn the heat on if I'm out there as I don't have to worry about having heat on 24 hrs a day/

I have one of these, but switched over to a woodstove because the electric bill was phenomenal.

At the crappie dock at the lake I fish there are two 10,000 watt 240v hanging heaters that get it toasty inside, it's roughly 30'x30'. When I'm the only fool out there in 13 degree weather I open a window and fish the big water with that heat blowing on me out the window. My home electric bill was $300 last month so electric is not a good option for me in the shop, I have 3 acres of woods for fuel and will have a wood stove next year. I have a 220v electric air handling unit that heats it ok but again with the electric bill that's just not the way for me to go.
