A small one might be neat! Maybe a honda 50 clone, they are like $79 + shipping on ebay! I think it has been done actually? The bonanzas had the Hodaka!

I have tossed around the idea of mounting one of my rd250, rd350 or rd400 engines on a frame and see who's got the balls to ride it! It would definately need a wheely bar no doubt, unless you like getting hurt :hammer:

I think the problem would be the 200cc four stroke engine is too tall for the DB30 frame. You would be better with a air-cooled 2 stroke dirt bike engine like a Hodaka or old Yamaha 100-175 engine or 200cc blaster engine.

I have had several RDs over the years and can tell you this, I would not ride one with anything more than the little seen RD50 engine but would never part out that rare a machine! I had an RD50 and got $2000 for it, sold it on Walnecks Classic Cycle Trader 3 days after the Trader hit the news stand! Those bikes are stupid fast and a 250cc would be a suicide ride on a Doodlebug! My RD 400 with many mods was almost too fast for even an experienced rider, it would throttle wheelie at the top of 5th gear!

The Clone shifter motors are junk... The clutch and shifter mechanism is total crap.. :hammer:

I'd do it and say WEeeeeee look at me.. It's gonna be crazy quick take off though.. Be careful of that..

Yeah I have seen like one of those little 50's before, im suprised they even made anything that small for a road bike. What did you have done to your rd400? What pipes did you use and whos porting? Im just qurious what worked good for you.

It was ported and polished with a set of custom chambers, and had racing reeds and rejetted carbs! The chambers were huge and scraped a bit from time to time but they made the powerband come in quicker and stretched it out till your cheeks were wrapped around your ears! All work was performed by 'the late Dennis Latimer of OKC he was a 2 stroke wizard and built me this dangerous beast, but it was lots of fun! I sold it along with a restored 250, 350, and another 400. As well as a suzuki GT250, 500, and a K1 kawi, and a 1976 suzuki RE5 rotory engine motorcycle! A divorce forced the sale and my heart still breaks! I loved them all, not the ex-wife but the bikes, just to be clear!

Who is OKC? Do they still do work? There is a couple guys building pipes still, SpecII, Guy in Texas and HVC cycle but his pipes are costly and you can only buy them nickle plated which I dont really want.

No Dennis Latimer passed away a few years back, he had a small motorcycle shop right on Route66 and was the king of 2 strokes as far as I was concerned! He built the chambers from scratch from sheetmetal and brazed them, like I said they were big but effective! Dennis used some formula to calculate volume, and every chamber he made was awesome!

Honestly I have to say no.....

Its a waste of an engine. The DB can never tak eadvantage of the power and speed and in all likely hood you'll get hurt trying
