snow blower hsk40 vs hsk50 differences

#1
One of my scramblers has a hsk40 engine on it so I know what I am dealing with on that one

Tomorrow I am am looking at [buying?] an old craftsman snowblower with a 5 Hp Tecumseh engine. Are there any difference between the two engines? Can I expect the crankshaft snout to be the same? Thanks, Jim

The majority seems to be 3/4" PTO but look out for a secondary PTO coming off the cam. If you're lucky the plastic belt cover is already off and you can measure the inside of the pulley. A lot of points HS40 equipment engines had 1" PTOs for whatever reason.

The exhaust flange and maybe the diameter is different between the regular HS40-50, probably the same on the Sno Kings. You cant swap them

I bought it today. Runs like a champ...blows snow well too! 143.015007 I looked up the # and it tells me it has 35975 crank...and that is not good is it...

DOM is 1003 Decode? Emission sticker says 1995-2001

It has that ugly recoil assembly. Can an older style one with the 4 bolts be made to fit?
