So how much radiation.....?

notice how they don't really have any reports of looting going on there?

it would be 10x worse if that same situation was happening in the US. just look at what happened after Katrina. people don't seem to have the sense of entitlement over there that is so prevalent in the US.
Well let's just say in certain parts of the U.S. When there's catastrophic flooding in the mid-west, which has happened several times in the past 20 years, you don’t hear about looters, or everybody standing around waiting for the government or somebody else to fix everything. I think it’s fair to say there are parts of this country where people take care of their own problems, and there are parts that want somebody else to fix their problems.

My father used to go to Japan often for buisness.

In all honesty I don not like Jap companies and buisness practices and by extention the corruption and lack of tranparency of their govermernt with which major corperations like Toyota and Mitsui are are in bed with.

Now we are seeing this year the first examples of how lean production failures in Japan can close a GM plant in the USA. We are watching money run in cirlces looking to avoid risk and commodioties rise and fall at the whim not just of traders but computer programs.

We are actualy watching people lie and avoid the real trueth with reguards to the condition of the reactors, death toll from the earth quakes and and the amount of radiation released.

So the future for Japan is will be interesting.
For one they are finaly going to have to face up to the fact they need a goverment in place that can run the country without corruption and more transparrent.

There ecconomy has been in the toilet for over a decade, they are deep in debt ( money mostly owed to themselves however the Japs are prolific savers ) and now face a national disaster on a scale the likes never seen there in a lifetime.

I am deeply sympathetic to the working man, the salary man and the small buisness person in that country. I offer heart felt sympathy to the families of those killed injured or effected in any way.
But I do not shed a single tear for politicians, burecrates and Oligarcs that have lead them to this ( at least in part they didn't cause the earth quake ).

If it were up to me I would throw a select group of responsible persons into that reactor with a spade and fire hose and say clean up your own crap. You did this to them and you should be forced to deal with it.
I am forced however to admit in all likely hood that like the financial melt down here only band aids will be aplied to the symptoms and the real problems will be burried ( under concrete in the case of the reactors ).

Well they found radiation in the food in japan already and very small trace amounts on planes so it will spread.

Ohh to the :eek:ut: people that are worried about people making fun of this I got to ask "what the hell are you talking about" I havnt really seen much of that.

I have made fun of our government because we all know (well maybe not all) that they will lie to us and down play this in hopes of nothing happening but I doubt very much that our president will be going to hawaii and lounging on the beaches any time soon.

I'm hoping it dissipates and wont pose any problems for any other people but whatever leaks out of those reactors will end up somewhere.

Sure nothing funny about it.

I dont see why you guys think this is funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i feel for the families that are there in Japan.
I called a good friend who I knew had a Son and family teaching in Japan. I was worried about his family and knot knowing where in Japan they were. Turns out the University where he was a Language professor is only 4 miles from the area hit by the Tsunami near Sendai. He rushed out of his office shoe less and headed 5 blocks to his apartment in a 13 story building. His wife and oldest son were out shopping at a food store and had just left when the quake hit and that store was destroyed.
Two other children were in school, The family packed up all they could carry and walked 20 miles and caught 2 taxi's and went in closer to Tokyo. They took a flight out of Japan and are now in Manila, Philippines
So Peter and his family are homeless, jobless but safe for now and I for one see nothing funny about this.

And who is going to pay for all this?

Honda?
Toyota?
Tohatsu?
Nissan?
Fuji heavy industries?
Mitsui?
Sumitomo?

Don't make me laugh.
Like the banks, the computer companies, the auto industry, the steel mills will all toss up their hands and say we can't help we don't have any money. That and give us a hand out and tax breaks or we will lay everyone off and move to China.....
Just like here....

Add a few bribes and the goverment will borrow like mad to fix everything and make sure the rich never have to worry abolut their assets.....

Glad to hear that the Japanese leaders did not cause the earthquake. I know that Toyota and Samsung are smart enough to do it if they wanted.

But it is still sad to hear that these same leaders, none the less,
: "led them to this".

I would suppose you are referring to possible subliminal messages in the Tokyo TV news and maybe the despotic lowering the price of seafront property [by the Bourgeois controllers of the means of production] to lure the working class [downtrodden Proletarians] into the terrorable dangers of the coast?

No by that I mean they have a weak ineffective goverment and a culture that tends to dither and down play.

Arogance lead them to this....

Earth quakes and sunami happen in Japan all the time.
You think they would have a cival defence plan for the worst case.

Nice job using the big words.
Bourgeois and Proletarians.
But reality check here the comon people do not run things there or here so they are hardly to blame.

And if the three gorges dam bursts and washes away a million people don't be suprised if I same the same thing about China.

OMG things have really gotten bad over there with the radiation being at 10,000,000 times the limit.

I cant even imagine how they will clean up that mess and keep it from spreading.

I'm assuming they will try to put the worst of that radiated water into containers of some sort to keep it from spreading around but how many barrels will that be and how much has escaped out into the surrounding area already.

I bet they end up putting as much of the radiated water as they can into barrels, then put the barrels in a group near the reactor(s) and dump thousands of tons of concrete onto the reactors(s).

(Like they did to Chernobyl.)

I remember when the Japanese had many huge demonstrations when American nuclear powered subs or carriers would want to port there IN FACILITIES PAID FOR BY THE USA AND BY TREATY BETWEEN US AND JAPANESE GOVERNMENTS. We were the bad guys and they were the pure downtrodden people that were forced into attacking Pearl Harbor [their official story even today] that started WWII. I for one liked the T shirt that said Made in the USA, Tested in Japan and a picture of a mushroom cloud. Now it is time for us to protest their REAL radioactive fallout, rather that the hypothetical and zero radioactivity of a sub or carrier they sniveled about. Wonder where I can get another one of then T shirts?

I guess you could say that it makes the gulf oil leak a minor event compared to the long lasting effects that will come from the reactors melting down over there.

It was impossible to find evidence of the The Valdez 'Disaster' a few years after it took place. Same will happen with the Gulf Disaster. But you can still see the effects of the Watts riots. I suspect that the situation in the reactors is worse than admitted to by the Japanese government. You gotta remember that the Japanese Army was not told by the Japanese Navy that they had lost four irreplaceable carriers at the Battle of Midway. It took almost two years for them to fess-up. Even the Emperor was not told! These folks have never been really good at telling it like it is. It was a year or so ago that the Japanese government finally admitted that they had murdered millions in China 70 plus years earlier! Nope, I don't expect them to admit the truth about the reactors for at least another two decades even if everybody in the world by then knows the whole story.

Could it be............................................
8:10a
A star falls

"And the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven, burning as it were a lamp, and it fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter." (Rev. 8:10, 11).
Makes me wonder..................and time will tell.
