So what’s everyone using for oil ?

I’ve got one good running mini that I will start to use regularly with a Tecumseh flat head. I have been using Valvoline VR1 10w-30 since it’s what I use for my old muscle car. I also use M1 0w-40 in my new cars. Has anyone seen a clear advantage to using a synthetic or even a 10w or 15w-40. After all they are working much harder on a mini bike than on a mower or blower. Thanks

Anything 5W30 synth. Last year I put 5W20 synth in my low hour yard rider that was left over from oil changes on my car.

I'll be using 5W20 to follow NR Racing's recommended cam break in on my 224. They want you to be careful with their economy grind cam by using light weight oil and stock springs.

Briggs & Stratton 4t race oil by Amsoil or B&S straight 30w, depending on the engine.

On a fresh build I use the Briggs break in oil by Amsoil before switching to one of the two mentioned above.

My work is an Amsoil distributor so I get a nice discount on it.
Being a dealer helps too!

Strigoi, years ago, they held swap meets in O.C. at a drive in theater. Forget the name now, but one time I saw this dude with the Amsoil display with the moving parts, and the friction thing- and I bought a few quarts. At the time, I had a Kawasaki KZ650, but it was a little bit hotter with a Yoshimura 717 kit in it, I thought I was King of the Ortega highway. (Route 74 going from the I5 to Lake Elsinore)

Anyway,

I put that Amsoil in my bike, and when I started it, I had to turn the RPM down. The oil reduced friction to the point where it was 500 RPM higher. I was pretty impressed with the stuff. I put some in my Toyota Land Cruiser and didn't see a difference like that, but for smaller engines, I imagine the benefits are readily available.

No, I don't sell it and I don't know anyone other than (now) Strigoi who sells it, just sharing an experience I had once long ago.
