Allison trans. pretty reliable,, as long as you do your services on them.
Generally a whole bunch of little parts in those tranny's ....
Duramax Diesels though,, I would take a Dodge / Ram,, with a Cummins, any day.
Less moving parts with the straight 6 ect. ;)
IMO.

Does look in pretty nice shape, for the miles.

It's really quite clean. It needs a detail bad though. It has the typical GM peeling paint on the roof and in a couple of other small spots too. I'll at least get the roof repainted soon.

I'm still surprised how well it gets up and goes.

Yep, we do have emissions to deal with here in CA. I think it's pretty lax when it comes to these older diesels though.
I know a guy in the tuning business that can write you a tune for that Dmax if you want a custom tune. He had an 01 Dmax with 3 turbos that made a bunch horsepower.

Send me his info. I'm not sure if I want to put a tune on right now. Part of me does, but then I also don't want to get the mod bug with this truck. Kind of want to just leave it as-is. Maybe find some stock wheels for it when it comes time for tires.
