Spinner to 5-1/4" Adapter

#1
Making an adapter so i can use 5-1/4" bolt circle sprockets or disc brakes on an 8" Asuza Spinner hub. The three inner bolt holes need to uncovered on the hub with a hand drill and a 5/16" drill bit.

The adapter gets the sprocket out far enough to easily clear #40 chain.

From the lathe, shown here, it goes on to the mill to drill the two bolt patterns.

Cool!

The lathe work is done for the prototype. I will lighten it up a bit and radius the inner angles. I want to make sure it will fit before getting to fancy.

Off to the mill to make some holes!

time to drill some holes!

all done, the fitting is pretty good. the wheel castings arent perfect but with drill holes .010" over nominal bolt clearance everything fits and lines up.

now when bonanza sprockets cant be found or if disc brakes are desireable this adapter will get the job done!

now i'll clean up the design and improve the tooling and paths to reduce the machine time.

Looks good, I like the clean design. If you ever get the itch to make a spacer to widen a spinner wheel 2-3" I will buy one, been a mental back burner project of mine.
