Sprocket Teeth

What do you guys think of this? The teeth on my new 54T #41 sprocket look a bit too pointy to me? The 1st 3 pics are of the new one and the last 3 are of my original 40T.

It looks like it'll work fine, but it does look like the teeth are a bit longer. Maybe the original sprocket was worn down a bit? What's wrong with the original?

I thought the same about the wear. The original 40T is way too small,My MTD has the tall original 4.00 X 6.00 tire,not enough low end torque getting to the ground,pretty doggy 'till it got moving. It really struggled getting up derby hill in Detroit. I switched to a 48T and it woke up a lot but just not enough. It will still have plenty of top end for me with the 54T. The relationship between the sprocket and tire dia. is about the same as my Ruttmans,I think thats enough proof without breaking out my old shop math or machinery's hand books. I'll see soon enough

Looks normal for sand and grit wear.

Flip the sprocket over and let the chain run on the unworn side of the teeth.

It is odd but they look taller than a normal sprocket would be so they would need to be pointier. That would work better for keeping the chain on.
