Sprockets and Clutches

Can someone help me understand the basics when putting together a set up? The minibike kit I'm looking at (AZUSA) comes with a 72 tooth sprocket. I'm buying the motor from NR-Racing. Neither of these guys sell clutches. The guy at NR-Racing recommended a 12 or 13 tooth Max Torque clone clutch from APS Karting. My question is how do I figure out the optimal number of teeth for the clutch and sprockets. Thanks a million.

How tall is your rear tire?
How much do you weigh?
How fast are you trying to go?
Also what are you doing with the minibike? distance, off road, street

hope you dont mind me jumping in but i also have questions on jackshaft and sprocket sizes. I have a pace setter trail buck. It is just a rolling chassis. I am missing the jackshaft torque converter motor and all sprockets except the rear wheel sprocket I have it. It is a 52 tooth sprocket. My father is a machinist by trade so fabricating a new jackshaft should not be a problem I would just like to know what size sprockets were attatched to the crank and jackshaft.and what size and style of berrings were also used on the jackshaft. And what type of torque converter was on this bike. the rear tire size was 18" 9:50 with a 7 h.p. tecumseh thanks for any info you may have.

How tall is your rear tire? 10"
How much do you weigh? I weigh about 170
How fast are you trying to go? I have no idea how fast these things go but our neighborhood does have some steep hills.
Also what are you doing with the minibike? street for fun, mostly for my 14 year old son

I bought the 13 tooth with the kit for now.

The min. size rim for a 72 tooth sprocket in 35 series is 6" rim and I prefer a 60 tooth. but you might want to run a jackshaft or torque converter. You must have 5" rims by the highth you are listed.

you talk alot about not running a tav. but you run high hp. low hp needs a tav to get low torque and speed. high hp engines dont need a tav. You got to remember most of these bikes are 3-5hp stockers. alot of difference than a raceing engine.

TAV don't give you any extra top speed. If you read the guys combo he should already take off like he has a TAV with 13/72 and only a 10" tall tire. The guy is only 170 lbs, not a real big heavy dude.
