I built that mailbox way back in 2018. I don't have a FB account but I've heard that picture is making the rounds, and that some jackass is claiming that it's his. It's an old picture BTW. There's wreaths around it now. I also wrapped the frame and wheels with a thin strip of reflective tape, so at night you see the outline of a minibike. I had a custom old school (late '60s style) WI mini license plate made with my fire (house) number on it and mounted it right below the box. Then modified some el cheapo solar lights hidden underneath to light it up at night. Probably the quickest project I've completed, from concept to completion was only a few days.
When I built it, I welded a 4" piece of angle iron to the bottom of the frame, then ran a couple of grade 8 bolts through the 4x4 post. I wanted to use a steel pipe and weld the whole thing together, but that post is rock solid. You'd have to work really hard to steal it, and trust me it ain't worth it. My neighbor hit (barely touched it) with a GIANT piece of farm equipment just a few weeks ago and it popped the box off of the bike. a couple new screws and back in business.
The frame is garbage, the motor has a hole in the block and the only things that are usable is the fenders and rear sprocket. No waste here! We get lot's of people stopping to take pictures, I'm kinda surprised it took this long to make it here. The pumpkins are from our garden.
